→ International trade refers to buying and selling of goods and services between different countries.
→ The trader who is purchasing goods from another country is called an “Importer” and the trader who is supplying goods to the consumers in the other country is called an “Exporter”.
→ International trade has a very wide scope.
→ Export trade formalities are : enquiries and quotations; orders or indents; securing the licence;
fulfilling exchange regulations, letter of credit, shipping order; exchange rate; packing and for-warding; customs formalities; mate’s receipt; bill of landing; insurance of goods; certificate of origin; consular invoice; preparation of invoice; securing payment.
→ Import trade formalities are procurement of license; obtaining exchange; indent order; letter of credit; procuring shipping documents; clearing of goods; delivery of goods; warehouse.
→ EPZS are set up in underdeveloped parts of the host country. They aim at reducing poverty and unemployment and stimulating the area’s economy.
→ 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) are allowed for all the manufacturing activities in EPZ’s.
→ EPZ policy can be divided into four stages.
- Initial phase 1964 – 1985
- The expansionary phast (1985 – 1991)
- The consolidating phae (1991 – 2000)
- The emergence phase (2000 onwards)
→ EPZ with wee exempted from normal licensing provisions and restrictions.

→ అంతర్జాతీయ వర్తకం: రెండు దేశాల మధ్య జరిగే వర్తకాన్ని అంతర్జాతీయ వర్తకం అంటారు. దీనిని మూడు రకాలుగా వర్గీకరించవచ్చు. అవి :
- ఎగుమతి వర్తకం
- దిగుమతి వర్తకం
- మారు వర్తకం.
→ ఎగుమతి వర్తకం : ఒకదేశం వేరే దేశానికి వస్తువులను అమ్మకాన్ని ఎగుమతి వర్తకం అంటారు.
→ దిగుమతి వర్తకం : ఒకదేశం వేరే దేశం నుండి సరుకులు కొనుగోలు చేయడాన్ని దిగుమతి వర్తకం అంటారు.
→ మారు వర్తకం : ఒకదేశం నుండి సరుకులను దిగుమతి చేసి వేరే దేశానికి ఎగుమతి చేస్తే దానిని ‘మారువర్తకం’ అంటారు.
→ ఎగుమతి వర్తక ప్రక్రియలు నిర్వహించే క్షేత్రాలు (ఇ.పి.జడ్) :
భారతప్రభుత్వం ఎగుమతులను పెంపొందించడానికి ఎగుమతి వర్తక ప్రక్రియలను నిర్వహించే మండలాలను ఏర్పాటు చేసినది. ఆతిథ్యమిచ్చే దేశం యొక్క వెనుకబడిన ప్రాంతాలలో ఈ మండలాలను స్థాపించడం జరుగుతుంది.
