Question 3.
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
Answer:
Reference : These lines appear in ‘The Tyger’ from ‘Songs of Experience’ by William Blake.
Context: The speaker marvels at the tiger’s terrifying beauty, questioning what divine force could create such a fearsome creature. The ‘fearful symmetry’ suggests a balance of awe and dread in its design.
Appreciation: Blake uses powerful imagery (‘burning bright,’ ‘immortal hand’) to contrast the tiger’s ferocity with divine artistry. The alliteration in ‘frame thy fearful’ adds a rhythmic intensity. The question reflects existential wonder – how can a benevolent God also create danger?
Conclusion: These lines capture the poem’s central tension : the coexistence of beauty and terror in creation. Blake challenges simplistic views of divinity, suggesting that God’s work encompasses both the gentle (The Lamb) and the fierce (The Tyger).

Question 4.
Did he smile his work to see ?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Answer:
Reference : These lines are taken from ‘The Tyger’ in ‘Songs of Experience’ by William Blake.
Context: The speaker questions whether God took pride in creating the tiger, despite its violence, and whether the same Creator shaped both the lamb and the tiger.
Appreciation: The rhetorical questions deepen the poem’s philosophical weight. The contrast between the lamb (innocence) and the tiger (experience) highlights Blake’s theme of duality in creation. The tone is awestruck, almost accusatory, as if challenging divine logic.
Conclusion: These lines reinforce Blake’s belief in the complexity of God’s creation. They suggest that divinity encompasses both gentleness and ferocity, urging readers to embrace life’s contradictions rather than seek simplistic answers.
ప్రస్తావన : ఈ పంక్తులు బ్లేక్ వ్రాసిన ‘Songs of Experience’ లోని ‘The Tyger’ పద్యమునుండి తీసికొనబడినవి.

The Lamb and The Tyger Questions and Answers
Question 1.
Compare and contrast the key qualities portrayed in “The Lamb” and “The Tyger.” How does Blake use these qualities to express the theme of duality in creation?
Answer:
William Blake’s The Lamb (from Songs of Innocence) and The Tyger (from Songs of Experience) represent opposing aspects of creation, embodying his theme of duality.
‘The Lamb’ symbolizes innocence, gentleness, and divine love. Its soft imagery (“woolly, bright,” “tender voice”) reflects a benevolent Creator. The poem’s simple, childlike tone suggests harmony and trust in God’s goodness.
‘The Tyger’, in contrast, represents power, danger, and awe. Its “burning bright” ferocity and “fearful symmetry” evoke a terrifying yet magnificent creation. The poem’s rhetorical questions challenge how a loving God could craft such violence.
Blake uses these contrasts to explore duality in creation- God as both gentle nurturer (The Lamb) and fearsome craftsman (The Tyger). The lamb’s purity and the tiger’s ferocity coexist, suggesting that creation encompasses both beauty and terror, innocence and experience. This duality reflects Blake’s belief that true divinity includes all contradictions.
ఇవి ‘The Lamb’ (from ‘Songs of Innocence’) 8 ‘The Tyger’ (from ‘Songs of Experience’).
Question 2.
In both “The Lamb” and “The Tyger,” Blake explores the mysteries of creation. How does he use contrasting imagery to suggest that creation encompasses both beauty and terror?
Answer:
Blake employs starkly different imagery in The Lamb and The Tyger to convey creation’s dual nature-both beautiful and terrifying.
‘In The Lamb’, pastoral images (“stream,” “mead,” “woolly” “fleece”) evoke peace and safety. The lamb’s “tender voice” and association with Christ (“He is called by thy name”) suggest a kind, loving Creator.
‘The Tyger’, however, uses industrial and violent imagery (“hammer,” “chain,” “furnace,” “anvil”), portraying creation as a fierce, almost mechanical process. The tiger’s “burning” eyes and “deadly terrors” contrast sharply with the lamb’s docility.
These contrasts highlight Blake’s philosophical question: How can the same God create both gentleness and destruction? By juxtaposing the lamb’s innocence with the tiger’s ferocity, Blake suggests that creation is a paradox-simultaneously benevolent and fearsome. This duality challenges simplistic religious views, urging readers to embrace the complexity of divine power.

The Lamb and The Tyger Summary in English & Telugu
The Lamb and The Tyger Summary in English
In the poem “The Lamb, the speaker gently addresses a little lamb and asks if it knows who made it. He describes the lamb as a soft, woolly, and gentle creature, blessed with a tender voice that brings joy to the valleys. In the second stanza, the speaker answers his own question, explaining that the one who made the lamb is also called “Lamb” -a reference to Jesus Christ, who is known for his meekness and kindness. The poem connects the lamb with innocence, childhood, and divine love. The speaker, who is also a child, feels a close connection with both the lamb and Jesus. He ends the poem with a blessing for the little lamb. The tone of the poem is calm, warm, and full of admiration for the Creator’s kindness and care.
The poem ‘The Tyger’ is about a tiger, a creature full of power and mystery. The poet is amazed by its beauty and strength, and he keeps asking who could have created such a fearful and fiery being. He describes the tiger’s burning eyes, strong body, and the powerful tools that must have been used to shape it. The poet wonders how such a terrifying creature came into being. Was it the same God who made the gentle lamb? He is both fascinated and fearful of the tiger and the Creator who dared to make it. The tone of this poem is intense, curious, and filled with wonder.
Both “The Lamb” and “The Tyger” are poems about creation, but they show two very different sides of it. “The Lamb” celebrates innocence, softness, and the gentle love of God, especially as seen in Jesus Christ. It presents the Creator as kind and nurturing. In contrast, “The Tyger” explores the fierce, powerful, and mysterious side of creation. It raises deep questions about how a God who created something as gentle as a lamb could also create something as fearsome as a tiger. While “The Lamb” reflects purity and peace, “The Tyger” represents strength and danger. Together, the poems suggest that the Creator is both gentle and powerful, capable of making both innocence and awe. William Blake uses these two poems to explore the complex nature of God and the balance between light and darkness in the world.
